French beaded flowers pattern: prairie sunflower PDF – Level: Intermediate

Prairie sunflowers are wild flowers commonly found in North America and I designed the French beaded flowers version after studying them. These daisy like-flowers are small compared with the sunflowers we are used to. This prairie sunflower project uses a combination of size 11 and size 15 seed beads.

This project uses intermediate techniques. For the basics of French beading techniques, refer to these tutorials:

Materials for making this French beading pattern:

  • 30 grams 15/0 Color A dark yellow seed beads- Miyuki opaque luster yellow
  • 5 grams 15/0 Color B light yellow seed beads- Miyuki opaque luster lemon ice
  • 1 gram 15/0 brown seed beads – Miyuki transparent rainboow rootbeer
  •  60 grams 11/0 green seed beads – Matsuno dynamite transparent rainbow emerald green
  •  26 gauge copper-core gold wire
  •  28 gauge copper-core green wire
  •  24 gauge copper-core green wire
  •  30 gauge copper-core green wire
  •  5 lengths of 18 gauge stem wire – about 16 inch (40 cm) lengths
  •  1 length of 16 gauge stem wire – 18 inch (45.7 cm) lengths
  •  1 skein green embroidery Floss
  •  Green floral tape
